If you're at the 62nd AHCA/NCAL convention in Las Vegas,  you can literally look down on your competitors.

To do so, you have to visit the MDI Achieve double-decker exhibit, where you can walk up a flight of stairs to hang out, perhaps with a beverage, in a comfortable chair or play Xbox Connect. It's believed to be the first time an exhibitor has created a two-story exhibit for the convention.

“We want people to know we're a leading provider of software,” marketing specialist Erin Hummel said. She and a team from MDI Achieve met with Skyline Exhibits to create the booth, which has featured presentations and testimonials on the lower level of the booth.

Other sights and sounds from the exhibit hall Monday:

  • Elvis was a hit at the Omnicare booth, as providers stopped by to have pictures taken and play an Omnicare-themed slot machine.
  • Kalypto Medical showed off its NPD 1000 System, a negative pressure wound therapy system, with body parts – a realistic model of a sacral ulcer on a backside known as “Seymour” and a diabetic foot ulcer on a foot known as “Wilma.”
  • Massages were available - and popular - at the Aegis booth.
  • A Roland Corporation piano player provided peppy music throughout the afternoon. The company's products include digital pianos and karaoke machines. It was Roland's first time at the AHCA show. Lee Hargrave, Roland's Business Development Manager,  said he sees potential in the market. “There are thousands of pianos in nursing homes around the country, and probably 3 of them are in tune,” he said. “Whereas our digital pianos are always in tune.”
